2023-2024 Management Committee members

Sarah Beswick

President

Sarah has been a member of the AKA since April 2010 and is currently a Level 5 Practitioner and Mentor.

Sarah first trained in Kinesiology in 2004 with The Academy of Systematic Kinesiology in the UK where her passion for Kinesiology grew from two very inspiring Tutors Dawn Bailey and Rosie Dowbekin. Both had introduced Kinesiology to Sarah as a live changing modality for family health issues. It soon became a key health tool in the family wellness kit.

Arriving in WA in March 2009, Sarah immediately enrolled to continue her studies and further her qualifications with O’Neill College under the trail blazing guidance of Nicole O’Neill.

2010 saw Sarah realising a dream of joining a multi-modality clinic, developing a strong referral network between both Allied & Holistic Practitioners. Building the Kinesiology offering in the clinic into a sought after modality alongside Osteopathy, Naturopathy, Acupuncture & Counselling.

In time, a full time demand gave Sarah the opportunity to recruit a series of new Graduates to the clinic with Sarah as their clinic mentor and business coach, creating a strong offering of Kinesiologists specialising in their individual zones of genius.

With a corporate background in training roles, marketing and international event management, Sarah along with highly intuitive fellow Kinesiologist & Teacher, Michelle Avichzer, developed a program for Graduates in Perth, WA, where clinic skills & knowledge were promoted and enhanced.

These were presented by a variety of Health industry speakers to an audience of Kinesiologists newly graduated and established in their field. This created a connected community, much needed for the solo business owner and often home based practitioner.

Current times find Sarah working with private clients in her Woodvale based clinic as a Coach and Kinesiologist. Both in-person and online. Sarah specialises in the mental and emotional strain of life and how that shows up in a wide variety of physical and quality of life challenges.

Sarah’s great passion is to coach and mentor Practitioners, both Allied and Holistic. Using Kinesiology interwoven with Coaching techniques ensures that the heart-felt calling is nourished, businesses launched and delivered in a stable, sustainable way and energetic alignment in all aspects, secures a thriving practitioner with a successful business.

Sarah is excited to bring all her life and work experience into her contributions as President of the AKA throughout 2024 and is very much looking forward to connecting with Kinesiologists across Australia.

Grace McLean

Secretary

Grace, is the newest member of the kinesiology community! She recently graduated in April 2023, obtaining her PKP Foundation Certificate while studying a diploma in energy psychology under the guidance of the wonderful Parijat Wismer in Byron Bay.

Prior to embarking on her kinesiology journey, Grace had an impressive 20-year background in the not-for-profit sector. She worked as a fundraiser for various charities, including CanTeen, the Leukaemia Foundation, and the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (NextSense).

Throughout her time in the not-for-profit sector, Grace witnessed the challenges faced by organisations and individuals alike. Recognising the toll that this high-stress environment can take on mental and emotional well-being, she became determined to find unconventional approaches to address these challenges. This led her to explore counselling and coaching, seeking innovative solutions to support herself and other not-for-profits in improving their business practices.

In 2014, Grace took a leap of faith and founded NFP Connect, a platform where she acted as a conduit and consultant, facilitating collaborations and supporting businesses and charities in connecting through networking. Her ability to bring people together and foster growth quickly became her trademark in the not-for-profit sector.

In 2020, Grace’s life took an unexpected turn when she had to step away from her career to become a full-time caregiver for her father. During this time, she discovered the transformative benefits of studying kinesiology. Not only did it help her manage her own stress as a caregiver, but it also provided invaluable support to her father. This personal experience solidified her belief in the power of kinesiology as a holistic approach to overall well-being.

With her extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector, Grace is the perfect fit for her new role as Secretary of the Australian Kinesiology Association. She is poised to contribute to the association’s mission and the well-being of its members, drawing on her vast background and unwavering dedication to the transformative practice of kinesiology.

Lisa Cohen

Ordinary Member

Lisa has been a member of the AKA since 2015, and is a level 5 Practitioner – Since graduating from studying a Diploma of Kinesiology and a Diploma of Mind Body Medicine at the College of Complimentary Medicine in Sydney.

Since graduating, Lisa has studied under Kerryn Sedgman, Robbie Zeck, Gay Landeta and Bessel van der Kolk, honing her skills and her practice in the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Lisa meets with Pam Sussman monthly for mentoring and supervision. Lisa specialises in transitions – trauma, pain, auto-immune and generalised anxiety.

Before Kinesiology, Lisa studied a BA in Christian Counselling – this Counselling aspect of Lisa’s skillset is used every day, with every client in many and varied ways.

Since leaving school, Lisa has worked in the Television Industry – the last 30 years as a freelance Technical Director, which has also given her opportunities to travel the world working on many and varied events such as Olympics, Commonwealth Games, FIFA World Cup and more.

Lisa likens her skillset in Tv to her Kinesiology, because they are both all about frequency change – tuning in the colour, sound, light, and cellular rhythm of what is before her. The problem-solving skills Lisa has developed in her TV work, is also a big advantage in her Kinesiology work.

Joining the AKA Management Committee for the first time in late 2023 (her first committee for that matter), Lisa brings her time, energy and enthusiasm to all that she is tasked with – her planning and problem-solving skills, as well as her love and commitment to all things Kinesiology will enable her commitment for the AKA.
